Mary's chocolate cake


Growing up, my mum would regularly bake this cake, and put slices of it in my lunch box for school.

Serves: many or few ;)



  1. Pre-heat oven to 180°C
  2. Grease and line a large cake tin
  3. Heat and stir the cocoa, water, and butter over a low heat until combined.
  4. Measure dry ingredients into a bowl
  5. Measure the milk into a measuring jug, and add the eggs and vanilla. Mix well.
  6. Mix all ingredients together
  7. Pour evenly into baking tin
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes.
